Desmond Reid has been in the construction industry for 40+ years. His expertise comes from learning the business from the ground up. He started his first construction company in NYC along with his brother Gerald after emigrating to the United States in the 1980s. The company specialized in masonry and concrete and they grew the company over several years to eventually have over 100 employees including bricklayers, carpenters, and laborers.

In 1992, Desmond formed a new company, Bar Construction, specializing in corporate office renovations, medical facilities, and high-end residential work. The company has grown steadily under Desmond's leadership and later in conjunction with his business partner, Anthony Coen. Desmond believes the key to success is building a great team around you that can take on a project from budgeting, estimating, and purchasing, through project management, field supervision, and project closeout. Under Desmond's management, Bar has completed hundreds of successful projects - on time and on budget - leading to many repeat clients and client referrals.

Some notable clients include Springer Science + Business Media and Vice Media HQ, an 80,000 SF office building in Brooklyn which had a very stringent schedule and budget.
